Leadership

Many believe that an effective leader is "born to lead": nothing can be further from the truth! People can learn to become effective leaders, and high school students are no exception. WE TEACH LEADERSHIP, therefore the opportunities in AFJROTC for students to learn how to lead and to demonstrate their acquired leadership skills are numerous, skills truly setting themselves apart from their peers. As AFJROTC students grow and become effective leaders, not only do colleges recognize their leadership skills, but they also gain a competitive advantage as they begin to integrate into the business community.

How do students demonstrate their leadership skills? Inside the classroom, student leaders serve in the capacity as Flight Sergeants, Element Leaders, and mentors. Outside of class, students run most of the AFJROTC program! This includes the Drill and Ceremony Team, Community Service opportunities, and students staff positions on the Squadron Leadership Team. Students that excel academically in each of their high school classes have the opportunity to join our school chapter of the Kitty Hawk Air Society (KHAS), a nationally-recognized honor society reserved especially for AFJROTC students. "Kitty Hawkers" (as they are often referred to) have their own 100% student-led leadership structure, and are engaged in special community projects.

In short, for those students who wish to learn leadership and want to be in a leadership role, then AFJROTC is the place to be!
