Citizenship
The United States of America was founded on excellence, not mediocrity. The mission of the AFJROTC program is to "Build Better Citizens For America", citizens who will become part of our country’s "foundation of excellence" that has kept this nation strong for 234 years. The Air Force’s Core Values of Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do serve as the foundation of our Citizenship Program. AFJROTC students demonstrate Service Before Self in many ways, but most notably through their Community Service efforts.
Our students are
involved in a number of community service events throughout Crescenta
Valley, Montrose, and Glendale: projects and
activities include assisting veterans groups, participating in
community projects and town-sponsored events, and assisting many
other volunteer organizations. Our Drill and Ceremony teams
provide a Color Guard or Honor Guard when requested;
the Kitty Hawk Air Society is heavily involved within the
community through the
Veterans History Project, and
Operation Gratitude. Nearly one-half of our AFJROTC students
earn over 100 hours of community service work during their high
school tenure, gaining them recognition as recipients of the Falcon
Community Service
Medallion at their high school graduation.
